Biography

Carlos Aguiar is an Assistant Professor in the Industrial Design Program at the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also an Affiliate Faculty of Informatics at the School of Information Sciences. Dr. Aguiar is the founder and director of the Design, Technology, and Society Lab, where he leads collaborative efforts to investigate the interaction between humans and artifacts. He delves into the futures conceived and sustained by these technologies, examining issues of inclusivity and exclusivity. Aguiar also analyzes the role of emerging technologies in shaping tangible futures, as well as the impacts and consequences of emergent behaviors, interactions, and societal structures.
