Biography

Carlos obtained his PhD in 2011 from the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow. He was awarded a Postdoctoral Research position at the Human Nutrition Research Centre of Newcastle University, where he co-led the Pan-European personalized nutrition trial, Food4Me. In 2015, he returned to the University of Glasgow, joining the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health, where he is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the BHF Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre. His research concentrates on understanding the role of lifestyle behaviors, such as physical activity and diet, in the development of non-communicable diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dementia, and cancer. To date, he has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences.
