Biography

Carlos Fernandez-Granda is an Associate Professor focused on the intersection of mathematics and data science at New York University. He serves as the Interim Director of the Center for Data Science, where he is involved in designing and analyzing methodologies for data science applications. His current research interests primarily lie in the field of Machine Learning, with applications in medicine, climate science, and scientific imaging. Fernandez-Granda is also noted for his contributions to education in data science, having authored a book titled 'Probability Statistics Data Science'. In addition to academic pursuits, he is part of the Math Data group and the M2LInES project, which showcases collaborative efforts in the mathematics community to tackle real-world data challenges. His work includes making educational resources such as preprints, videos, code, and slides available for wider community access. He is dedicated to advancing research methodologies in data science and making an impact within various scientific domains.
