Biography

Carlos Grilo is a Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education at Brown University in 1983 and received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. His postdoctoral training took place at Harvard Medical School's McLean Hospital in 1991, followed by additional training at Yale University in 1992. Grilo has been a member of the Yale faculty since then and has held various positions including Director of Psychology at the Yale Psychiatric Institute from 1993 to 2000. His primary research focus is on eating disorders and obesity, but he also has secondary interests in personality disorders and psychopathology. Grilo has been awarded numerous research grants and served as Principal Investigator on nine grants from the National Institutes of Health, including the K24 Mid-Career Investigator Award. He currently serves on the editorial boards of seven professional journals and acts as Associate Editor for the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. With over 350 peer-reviewed journal articles published, Grilo is a prominent figure in his field.
