Biography

Dr. Carlos Parra, originally from Barcelona, Spain, graduated from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) Dental School in 2009. He completed a Clinical Residency in Periodontology at UIC from 2009 to 2010 and served as a pre-doctoral clinical instructor conducting research on oropharyngeal dysphagia and oral hygiene from 2011 to 2012. After practicing dentistry in Barcelona from 2009 to 2012, Dr. Parra moved to the U.S. to earn a Certificate in Periodontics from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2015. He joined Texas A&M College of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor and, in 2016, received the Leslie M. Salkin Award for the highest score on the American Board of Periodontology Oral Examination. Dr. Parra has notable fellowships, including the American Academy Foundation Fellowship and the Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) Bud & Linda Tarrson Fellowship Award. In 2021, he became the Graduate Program Director of Periodontology at Texas A&M University and was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor in 2023. In 2022, he served as an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Periodontology. A frequent lecturer at national and international conferences, Dr. Parra’s main interests include soft tissue enhancement and dental implants.
