Biography

Dr. Suarez is a board-certified pathologist specializing in anatomic, clinical, and molecular genetic pathology. He received his M.D. degree with highest honors (summa cum laude) from the University of the Valley, Cali, Colombia. During his medical school years, he worked as a research fellow at a WHO-collaborating center investigating patterns of nosocomial antibiotic resistance. He then joined the University of California at San Diego as a postdoctoral research fellow focusing on lung cancer immunology. Dr. Suarez completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Washington in Seattle, followed by a fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology at Stanford University. Currently, he is the Director of the Molecular Pathology Laboratory at Stanford University Medical Center and the co-Director of the Genetic Genomic Testing Optimization Service. He also serves as the Associate Director of the Molecular Genetic Pathology fellowship. His clinical focus includes Molecular Pathology and Anatomic Clinical Pathology.
