Carmen Alvarez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a recognized expert in women's health and trauma-informed care, dedicated to advancing health equity through community-driven solutions that are practical, scalable, and accessible. Her research program focuses on developing and scaling evidence-based interventions that empower marginalized populations to manage their health effectively, with a specific emphasis on Latina women who have experienced adverse childhood experiences. Dr. Alvarez's cornerstone project, Cuidándome, is a telehealth and trauma-informed program that addresses mental health support for Latina survivors dealing with depression and anxiety.
