Carmen is a lecturer in Middle East Studies and an education researcher specializing in Middle East Studies pedagogy, Islamic Studies, and Middle East politics. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has completed both bachelor's and master's degrees in Oriental Studies at Sapienza University of Rome. Additionally, she participated in a funded research project titled "Fostering cross-cultural education," exploring educational potential in internationalization initiatives in Middle East Studies education within Western learning contexts. Currently, Carmen's research focuses on the new forms of authoritarian practices and their impact on the positioning of protest movements in Tunisia.
