Carmen LeBlanc joined the Department of French at Carleton University in July 2007 after completing her graduate studies at the University of Ottawa, where she specialized in variationist historical sociolinguistics and obtained her Ph.D. She has authored and contributed to several publications focusing on the varieties of French spoken in North America and has received various grants for her research, including SSHRC's Insight Grant and Partnership Grant.
