Dr. Carol Epling

Biography

Carol Ann Epling is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Duke University. She holds a Medical Degree (M.D.) from the University of Virginia, obtained in 1989. Her research focuses on Occupational and Environmental Medicine, particularly regarding health care personnel and the effectiveness of vaccinations. Epling has received several grants for her work, including those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health. Her projects have aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine among health care workers and addressing health disparities among rural women. In addition to her research efforts, she has held past academic positions as an Assistant Consulting Professor and Assistant Clinical Professor in Community Family Medicine. Epling is actively involved in the training of future medical professionals in occupational and environmental health issues and teaches courses on these subjects. Her extensive experience and dedication to improving health outcomes in diverse communities make her a valuable asset to her department and the broader medical field.
