Biography

Professor Carol Harrison is the Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity at the University of Oxford and has extensive experience in the field of theology. She completed her doctoral research at Oxford and has previously held positions at Hull University and Durham University, where she was a lecturer for twenty-five years. In 2008, she was appointed as a professor and moved to Oxford in 2015. Her research focuses on the History of Christianity, particularly on Early Christianity and the Latin West, with a special emphasis on the works of Augustine of Hippo. Harrison's interests also extend to auditory culture, spirituality, language, exegesis, sense perception, materiality, and music. In recognition of her contributions to the field, she became a Fellow of the British Academy in 2018. Furthermore, she is the editor of the Routledge Early Church Fathers series.
