Carol Thurgood has over 24 years of experience teaching instrumental music in the Edmonton area, where she has established a highly respected band program achieving superior ratings at provincial festivals. As an active performer and brass clinician, she has played French horn with the Edmonton Winds and tenor horn with the Mill Creek Colliery Band. Thurgood holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master's level diploma in Orff/Schulwerk pedagogy, as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction (Music Education) from the University of Victoria. She authored "Historical Canadian Band Music: Marches for Wind Band," focusing on arrangements for modern wind ensemble. Her current research interests encompass demographics and diversity within instrumental music programs in Alberta schools.
