Biography

Carola Bibiane Schönlieb is a Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge, where she has held several positions since 2005. She currently directs the Cambridge Image Analysis group and the Cantab Capital Institute for Mathematics of Information. Her research interests include variational methods, partial differential equations, machine learning, image analysis, image processing, and inverse imaging problems. Professor Schönlieb actively collaborates with clinicians, biologists, and physicists on topics related to biomedical imaging, and she contributes to digital art restoration in partnership with artists and art conservators. Her academic contributions have been recognized with numerous awards including the Wolfson Fellowship from the Royal Society and the Calderón Prize from the Inverse Problems International Association.
