Dr. Carole Bourne Taylor

Biography

Carole Bourne-Taylor is an Associate Professor in French and a Fellow at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. With extensive experience in comparative studies focusing on French and English literature and music, her research contributes significantly to the fields of French poetry, phenomenology, and performance studies. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses on modern literature, particularly French and English literature from the 19th to the 21st century, as well as modern contemporary French poetry. Carole has held various prestigious positions, including Senior Research Fellow at Maison de la Création et de l'Innovation, Université Grenoble-Alpes. Her numerous publications include 'Variations Ethics Mourning Modern Literature French' and 'Phenomenology, Modernism,' further showcasing her academic depth. Carole's interests also encompass Virginia Woolf's works, and she actively engages in discussions about the intersection of literature, ethics, and performance. In addition to her research, she contributes to the academic community as a co-convenor of the Oxford MSt Paper on 'Poetry & Ethics'.
