Biography

Carole Fortin is an Associate Professor at the School of Rehabilitation of the Université de Montréal and a researcher at CHU Sainte-Justine. She graduated with a degree in physiotherapy from Université de Montréal in 1983 and has extensive clinical experience at the Marie Enfant Rehabilitation Centre, specifically focusing on neurotraumatology, cerebral palsy, and musculoskeletal lesions. Professor Fortin shifted her focus to research, completing a master's degree in 2003 on gait analysis in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis, followed by a doctorate in 2010, which centered on developing and validating a clinical tool for posture assessment. She conducted postdoctoral training on the brain mechanisms of posture-movement control at Aix-Marseille University and CNRS. Her research predominantly revolves around the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with scoliosis, leading her to develop specialized skills in postural rehabilitation and gait analysis. Moreover, she has been involved in various teaching initiatives, guiding both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their academic and research projects. Professor Fortin has received multiple awards and grants to support her research endeavors in pediatric rehabilitation and scoliosis treatment methodologies.
