Biography

Caroline Allen is an anatomist with a strong interest in reproductive biology, histology, and embryology. She graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Anatomy and pursued a research career at the University of Edinburgh, obtaining a Masters by Research in Reproductive Sciences and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. Her PhD investigated the effects of chemotherapy agents on prepubertal testis, aiming to develop fertility preservation strategies for young boys undergoing cancer treatment. Following the successful completion of her PhD, Caroline taught in the undergraduate biomedical sciences programme at both the University of Edinburgh and Zhejiang University in China. She continued to pursue her research interests as a research associate at the University of Edinburgh before joining the University of Glasgow as a Lecturer in Human Anatomy. Caroline is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is currently undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP) programme at the University of Glasgow. She coordinates the Functional Anatomy course for International Pre-Medical Students and oversees anatomy teaching for the Biomedical Life Social Science course for Nursing students.
