Biography

Caroline Essers is an Associate Professor at Radboud University specializing in Strategic Human Resource Management. Her research primarily focuses on entrepreneurship with an emphasis on diverse entrepreneurs, including migrants, women, refugees, and LGBTQ+ individuals. She investigates how these entrepreneurs relate to their surrounding (opportunity) structures and the broader ecosystem, specifically in terms of public organizations and policy support. A significant theme in her work is the 'identity work' of minorities within organizations, examining how leadership can contribute to inclusivity. In addition to her research, Essers teaches courses such as Leadership in Organizations and Innovation Entrepreneurship, and coordinates the Master’s program in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Her academic contributions have been published in various prestigious journals, and she serves as a co-editor for the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior Research.
