Biography

Caroline Gargett is a world-renowned researcher known for her pioneering work in discovering stem/progenitor cells in the human endometrium, which is the highly regenerative lining of the uterus, thereby establishing a new field in reproductive biology. She formed the Endometrial Stem Cell Biology Group in 2004 and received the top scoring NHMRC New Investigator grant to study endometrial stem cell biology, determining the identity of endometrial epithelial progenitor cells and mesenchymal stem cells. Gargett has played significant roles in various professional organizations, editorial boards, and scientific committees. Additionally, she is a director at the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia and has contributed actively to the advancement of stem cell research.
