Biography

Prof. Caroline Lasser conducts research in the field of applied mathematics, with a focus on numerical analysis and computational science. Her particular interest lies in Schrödinger equations, which describe molecular quantum processes at the atto-femtosecond time scale. Her work encompasses rigorous mathematical analysis, algorithm design, and the simulation of molecular quantum dynamics. Prof. Lasser studied mathematics at Munich’s Ludwig Maximilian University and obtained her doctorate from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2004. From 2005 to 2010, she was a junior research group leader and professor of applied mathematics at Freie Universität Berlin and has spent significant periods conducting research at prestigious institutions including New York University’s Courant Institute, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley, the University of Warwick in England, and Université Paris XII. In 2010, she was appointed as a professor of numerics for partial differential equations at TUM.
