Biography

Caroline Morley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on the atmospheres of exoplanets, particularly terrestrial planets similar to Earth, as well as giant planets larger than Jupiter. She employs various techniques such as transmission spectroscopy, secondary eclipse spectroscopy, and direct imaging for characterizing planets and brown dwarfs. Morley earned her Bachelor's degrees in Physics and Earth, Atmosphere, and Planetary Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2010 and completed her Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2016. Since joining UT Austin in 2018, she has worked on a multitude of projects, including studies on clouds in substellar environments and the habitability of planetary systems. Morley has also received several prestigious awards and grants, supporting her research on planetary atmospheres and systems.
