Dr. Caroline Streeter

Biography

Caroline Streeter is an Associate Professor of English at the University of California, Los Angeles, specializing in African American Literary Studies and Critical Mixed Race Studies. She obtained her Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies with a Designated Emphasis in Women, Gender, and Sexuality from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2000. Streeter earned her B.A. in Feminist Studies from Stanford University in 1984. Her research intersects various domains, including Gender and Sexuality, African American Film and Visual Art, Interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies, and Cultural Studies. She is the author of 'Tragic Mixed Race Women: Nexus of Sex and Celebrity,' published by the University of Massachusetts Press in 2012. In addition to her book, her recent articles explore themes such as interracial desire within media representations and the impact of Black celebrity culture. Streeter is committed to advancing the understanding of African American literature and culture as well as sexuality and gender studies through her teaching and research initiatives.
