Dr. Caroline Vout

Biography

Caroline Vout is a Professor in the Faculty of Classics at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Christ's College. She is a cultural historian and art historian, focusing on the reception of ancient art and literary themes. Professor Vout has taught at universities in London, Bristol, and Nottingham before returning to Cambridge in 2006. Her research interests include Greek and Roman sculpture, cultural history, and visual arts in antiquity. Some of her forthcoming publications include extensive studies on the eroticism in Roman art, Greek myths' political implications, and comparative perspectives between Greece and Rome. She is also involved in various research supervision topics encompassing visual culture and iconography in Greco-Roman contexts. Outside of academia, she engages with broader audiences through podcasts discussing her research on classic art and its lasting influence in contemporary times.
