Biography

Carolyn Emery is a Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, where she also serves as the Chair of the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre and Child Health & Wellness Researcher at the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute. She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Concussions and co-leads the Integrated Concussion Research Program at the university. Emery has over 370 peer-reviewed publications and her research focuses on injury prevention in youth sports, particularly concerning concussions and their rehabilitation. Her initiatives include addressing safety for female athletes and equity for marginalized youth in sports. Carolyn has received numerous accolades including the Presidential Coin from the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine and the Medal of Distinction from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, as well as various research awards and fellowships. She is deeply involved with various national and international research networks aimed at advancing knowledge and practice in sport injury prevention.
