Biography

Carolyn Horst obtained her undergraduate degree in History of Art and Architecture from Harvard University before moving to the UK to switch careers and study medicine at University College London (UCL). After earning her MBBS, Carolyn began her Clinical Radiology training while also pursuing a PhD focused on low-dose CT lung cancer screening at UCL. Previously, she served as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and is currently an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in the Cancer Imaging Group. Her research primarily focuses on cutting-edge technology and data interpretation methods in thoracic imaging. As part of her training, she is affiliated with Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where she is furthering her expertise in Radiology. Carolyn also holds the position of Deputy Editor for the journal Images in Radiology and has served as the past chair of the British Society of Thoracic Imaging trainee committee. Additionally, she is a member of the BMEIS Public Engagement Committee.
