Carsten Dominik is a full professor at the University of Amsterdam, where he obtained his PhD in 1992 from the Technical University of Berlin on the subject of dust-driven winds in red giants. He has held postdoctoral positions at NASA Ames and as an NRC Research Fellow at Leiden University. Dominik joined the Anton Pannekoek Institute in 1999 and from 2006 to 2014, he held a special professorship at Radboud University Nijmegen. He is currently the principal investigator of an NWO TOP-1 proposal focused on planet formation and protoplanetary disks. His research primarily targets the physics of planet formation processes occurring within protoplanetary disks and aims to link these processes to the architectures of planetary systems that have been discovered. Dominik specializes in high-contrast imaging and submillimeter wavelength observations, particularly focusing on how dust particles in disks evolve into comets and planets. He teaches introductory courses on Astronomy and Astrophysics at the bachelor level, including classes on Star and Planet Formation and Exoplanets.
