Biography

Carter Cast is the Michael S. Mary Sue Shannon Clinical Professor of Entrepreneurship at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. He began his career in marketing management at PepsiCo, where he contributed to the international food service division and worked with the Frito-Lay division to develop and launch products like Tostitos Scoops! and Tostitos salsas. After departing from PepsiCo, Carter served as vice president of product marketing at Electronic Arts, where he was instrumental in launching popular products associated with The Sims and EA Sports franchises. He later became the founding chief marketing officer of Blue Nile, enhancing its reputation as a leading online diamond and fine jewelry seller. As CEO of Walmart.com, he led the division to become a major online retailer alongside Amazon and eBay. In 2011, he joined the Kellogg School of Management, where he teaches courses on entrepreneurship and leadership. Carter is recognized for his commitment to education, having received multiple awards for teaching excellence, and he co-founded the Good Life student program. In addition to his academic work, he is an operating partner at Pritzker Private Capital and serves on the boards of several companies. Carter is also the author of the award-winning book 'Right (and Wrong) Stuff: Brilliant Careers Made - Unmade,' and his thoughts on management have been featured in various publications.
