Dr. Cary Aarons

Biography

Cary B. Aarons, MD is a Professor of Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Surgery. He serves as the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. Dr. Aarons completed his general surgery training at Boston University Medical Center and further specialized in colorectal surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical interests encompass the management of a wide range of benign and malignant colorectal diseases, including anorectal conditions and inflammatory bowel disease, utilizing both minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Dr. Aarons has a strong commitment to medical education and has been actively involved in shaping surgical training at the regional and national levels. He also holds a master's degree in Medical Education from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, reflecting his dedication to advancing surgical education.
