Biography

Casandra Lopez is a California Indian (Tongva/Luiseño) Chicana writer who has received support from CantoMundo, Bread Loaf, and Tin House Indigenous Nations Poets. She is the author of the poetry collection 'Brother Bullet,' which was published by the University of Arizona Press in 2019. Lopez has participated in several prestigious residencies, including Storyknife, Hedgebrook, Headlands Center for the Arts, and MacDowell. Furthermore, she is currently working on a memoir-in-progress titled 'Notes on Grief,' which received the 2019 James W. Ray Venture Project Award. Additionally, she is a Tongva Language Learner.
