Dr. Casey Myers

Biography

Casey Myers is a Senior Lecturer in Quantum Computing at the University of Western Australia, with a deep background in the quantum technologies sector. Over the past 15 years, he has been involved in pioneering quantum algorithms and optical solid-state architectures and has contributed to both academia and the deep tech industry. Prior to joining UWA, he led the quantum computing program in computer science at the University of Melbourne, where he was integral in the creation and coordination of new quantum computing subjects aimed at postgraduate students. His work has included significant contributions to a quantum computing startup, Xanadu, where fundamental machine learning applications were developed. Casey has taught extensively at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in physics, mathematics, and computer science. His research interests focus on the potential advantages and benefits that quantum computers can bring to various industries, including banking and geosciences, where he has held positions such as Senior Quantitative Analyst and Staff Geophysicist. In addition to his professional commitments, Casey enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife Maria and their children, Isabella and Anthony.
