Cassidy R. Sugimoto is the Tom Marie Patton Chair and School Chair at the Jimmy Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on formal and informal ways that knowledge is produced, disseminated, consumed, and supported, with a strong emphasis on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prior to her current role, Sugimoto was a professor in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University Bloomington from 2010 to 2021. She served as the Program Director for the Science and Science Innovation Policy program at the National Science Foundation from 2018 to 2020. Throughout her career, she has received numerous accolades, including the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award in 2014, the National Service Award from the Association for Information Science and Technology in 2009, and the Bicentennial Award for service to Indiana University in 2020. Sugimoto holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, a Master’s degree in Library Science, and a Doctorate in Information and Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
