Biography

Cassio de Campos is a Full Professor specializing in Artificial Intelligence, focusing on the foundations of statistical machine learning and probabilistic graphical models. He obtained his Habilitation in Artificial Intelligence in 2013 and his Doctorate in Engineering in 2006 from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. His research interests encompass reliable machine learning, robust AI, and developments in learning and reasoning algorithms, specifically within graphical models such as Bayesian networks, Markov models, and influence diagrams. Casio has worked on computational complexity tasks, devising innovative algorithms that significantly improve efficiency compared to state-of-the-art methods. He also investigates credal networks and graphical models aimed at enhancing robustness and reliability, which are critical in achieving credible outcomes in AI applications. Cassio has received recognition as a Senior Researcher at Utrecht University and is actively involved in various scholarly activities, contributing to the Association for Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence and other establishments. His previous appointments include time spent at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the USA and the Dalle Molle Institute in Switzerland. He joined Eindhoven University of Technology in 2019, where he continues to push the boundaries in AI research.
