Dr. Cassius Chaar

Biography

Cassius Iyad Ochoa Chaar, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Surgery specializing in vascular surgery at Yale School of Medicine. He is board-certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery, with extensive training in endovascular therapy. Dr. Chaar's clinical interests primarily focus on peripheral artery disease (PAD), critical limb ischemia, varicose veins, aortic visceral aneurysms, carotid disease, and deep vein thrombosis. He completed his medical education at the American University of Beirut and his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by a vascular endovascular surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Recently, he obtained a Master of Public Health from Yale School of Public Health. Dr. Chaar actively engages in clinical research, focusing on the genetic aspects of vascular diseases and the application of artificial intelligence to improve vascular care. He has a notable record of mentorship and training for MD/PhD students in surgical outcomes research and quality improvement. His commitment to advancing the field of vascular surgery is reflected through his publications and ongoing research projects, which explore various aspects of vascular disease and treatment methodologies.
