Biography

Catalin Rusu is an Associate Professor of International European Law at Radboud University Nijmegen. He teaches EU Economic Law and Competition Law at both bachelor and master levels. Rusu has served as a visiting professor at Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj Napoca and the University of Parma for European Competition Law and European Economic Law respectively. In 2017, he acted as a Non-Governmental Advisor to the European Commission International Competition Network. His research is focused on the dynamic role that EU Competition Law and Policy play in the Internal Market, examining how antitrust regulation adapts to the requirements of modern law-making as well as the distinct approaches to Competition Law enforcement in various European jurisdictions. Rusu co-founded the Radboud Economic Law Conference and is currently an editor of the Elgar Encyclopaedia of Competition Law, expected to be published in 2025/2026. He obtained his PhD from Utrecht University in 2009, where he focused on EU Merger Control and has published extensively in this field, including the book 'Competition Law in the EU: Principles, Substance, Enforcement, 2nd edition' set to release in 2024.
