Dr. Caterina Ramogida

Biography

Caterina Ramogida is an Associate Professor at Simon Fraser University, Department of Chemistry, with joint appointment at TRIUMF. Her research focuses on Nuclear Medicinal Chemistry, particularly in developing novel pharmaceuticals that incorporate radioactive metal ions for molecular imaging and targeted therapy in diseases. She investigates the design, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of metal-based radiopharmaceuticals, emphasizing the understanding of coordination chemistry to tether radiometal ions to biomolecular targeting vectors. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges the fields of chemistry, biology, and radiology, and she collaborates with TRIUMF and BC Cancer to produce innovative radiometals for vivo evaluations. She strives to teach and inspire enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students who are passionate about this emerging field.
