Biography

Catherine A. Bradley is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow in Early Music at St John's College. She leads a major research project funded by a 2 million Euro Consolidator Grant entitled 'BENEDICAMUS,' exploring the musical and poetic creativity of Western Christian liturgy from approximately 1000 to 1500. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is a co-editor for a journal published by Cambridge University Press and serves as an editor for the Royal Musical Association Monographs series. Catherine has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Royal Musical Association Dent Medal in 2023 and the Early Music Award from the American Musicological Society for her monograph 'Polyphony Medieval Paris: Art Composing Plainchant' published by Cambridge University Press in 2018. Her previous academic roles include Professor at the University of Oslo and Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has also held research fellowships at significant institutions such as the University of Chicago and the Paris Institute of Advanced Studies. Catherine completed her Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge in 2011 after earning undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Oxford.
