Dr. Catherine Brölmann

Biography

Catherine Brölmann is a Professor of Public International Law at the University of Amsterdam, where she also serves as the Head of the Department of International and European Law. She has extensive research experience, particularly focusing on the theory and practice of general international law, international organizations, treaty-making processes, and global law governance. Brölmann has held visiting professorships at notable institutions including Sorbonne University and Université Lyon 3, and has been an active research fellow at prestigious centers such as the Lauterpacht Centre at the University of Cambridge. Her work has been recognized through various grants, including one from the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of Bologna. Brölmann has published numerous articles and book chapters on topics related to international law, treaty interpretation, and the role of international organizations. She currently teaches courses on International Law and has supervised several PhD theses in the field. Her editorial involvement includes serving as co-editor-in-chief of the Oxford International Organizations, further contributing to the academic discourse on international law.
