Biography

Catherine Crabb is a Senior Lecturer in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at the University of Western Australia. She serves as the DPM Program Coordinator and currently holds the position of Co-Acting Head of the Department of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Catherine completed a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy, Human Biology, and Physiology at UWA, followed by a Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering at the University of New England, and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. She has played an integral role in teaching, curriculum design, and the development of program accreditation since joining the program in 2018. Her teaching encompasses various year levels within post-graduate Podiatric Medicine units. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Catherine practices as a podiatrist in a private practice, ensuring her academic work is informed by real-world experiences. Her teaching interests include primary musculoskeletal podiatric medicine, with a focus on preventative care and point-of-care diagnosis and treatment. She is particularly dedicated to the education of students with disabilities in podiatric medicine. Her research interests include the assessment of reliability and validity of imaging techniques, clinical tools, and devices in relation to forefoot deformation and peak plantar pressures in gait, as well as diversity and disabilities in tertiary education.
