Biography

Catherine D’Avanzato is a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and mood concerns. She provides evidence-based psychotherapies for adults dealing with a broad range of psychological issues. Dr. D’Avanzato completed her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and served as the Project Coordinator for the Northwestern-UCLA Youth Emotion Project, a multi-site study exploring risk factors in the development of mood and anxiety disorders during the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Her graduate work at the University of Miami focused on the role of emotion regulation difficulties in mood and anxiety disorders, culminating in a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2012. Following her graduation, she completed residency and postdoctoral training at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. D’Avanzato has held positions as a staff psychologist at the Rhode Island Hospital Adult Partial Hospitalization Program, where she developed the Trauma PTSD Specialty Track and integrated Dialectical Behavior Therapy principles to enhance treatment outcomes. As an Assistant Clinical Professor at Brown Medical School, she conducts research and clinical supervision, training graduate students and residents in evidence-based treatments for trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. Dr. D’Avanzato has authored numerous scientific publications focusing on PTSD, interpersonal violence, and mood disorders.
