Dr. Catherine Flood

Biography

Catherine Flood is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Alberta in 1987, where she also completed her residency. Following her residency, she pursued a fellowship in Urogynecology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Flood's research interests primarily focus on Urogynecology and pelvic floor dysfunction, especially in relation to prolapse, incontinence, and resident education in these areas. She has contributed significantly to the field through various publications, including important studies presented at surgical foundations and annual meetings, which address issues such as barriers to accessing surgery for transgender care and the perspectives of Indigenous medical students on postgraduate training in medicine. Her ongoing commitment to advancing research in her field has made her a distinguished figure in Obstetrics and Gynecology education and practice.
