Biography

Catherine Hands obtained her PhD in Educational Administration from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. She has a career background as an elementary teacher in a Montessori school system. Following her doctorate, she became an educational researcher and consultant for various school boards in Ontario, including the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Parent Engagement Office. Catherine holds international experience and has served as a faculty member in the University of San Diego’s Leadership Studies department, where she taught in the principal qualification program and other leadership programs. Currently, she is appointed as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, specializing in Administration and Leadership Education. Her research interests stem from her classroom experiences working with school leaders and teachers, focusing on educational leadership, school-community relations, learning communities, and educational change. She maintains an active research agenda in these areas and has presented and published her work regionally, nationally, and internationally.
