Catherine Pauline Ma Hayward is a Professor in the Department of Pathology & Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. Her research focuses on conducting bench-to-bedside studies of molecules important in blood clotting and vascular repair, with a major emphasis on platelets and platelet function disorders. Her team has made significant contributions to the discovery of a new protein, known as Multimerin1, which acts as an adhesive protein within blood vessels, playing a critical role in binding coagulation factor V. This research is pivotal in understanding vascular biology and has implications for therapeutic strategies in blood-related disorders.
