Biography

Catherine worked in higher education since 1996, initially as a research manager and later as a researcher and consultant for UK and European organisations, including the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the European Universities Association (EUA), and the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE). She served as an external quality accreditor for universities across Europe and was the Associate Director of the European Commission’s IBAR Project, which examined the implementation of pan-European higher education quality strategies. At the Adam Smith Business School, Catherine consults for businesses and public sector organisations, particularly in the Creative Industries sector. She is a member of the Entrepreneurship research cluster and has expertise in areas including strategy development and implementation, strategy practices, business processes, and actor networks within higher education and creative industries. Catherine's PhD thesis explored the potential of Actor-Network Theory to extend the empirical reach of the strategy-as-practice domain by considering the influence of non-human agencies on strategic outcomes. She supervises MBA students in the Industry Pathway and is open to supervising potential MBA and PhD candidates with interests in strategy-as-practice, higher education management, and material culture.
