Dr. Catherine Pell

Biography

Catherine Pell is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, affiliated with the Kirby Institute. She is a skilled Sexual Health Physician and Vocationally Registered General Practitioner, who completed her training in Sydney. Catherine has extensive experience working at the St George Sexual Health Clinics, as well as in general practice and family planning clinics in Wollongong and Hurstville. She has also served as a Sexual Health Physician at the Northern Territory Department of Health and Families for two years, providing care in a public sexual health clinic and working with the Sexual Health Blood Borne Virus Unit at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Her contributions include policy updates, consultancy for health care workers, and collaboration on research projects with various organizations to improve sexual health services in remote areas of the Northern Territory. Her research interests encompass Sexual Health, Sexually Transmissible Infections, Epidemiology, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, and Human Papillomavirus infection. Additionally, she is a Senior Fellow of the Australasian College of Sexual Health Physicians and a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Catherine also plays an active role in committees related to HIV medicine and guidelines development.
