Biography

Catherine Redgwell is the Chichele Professor of Public International Law and a fellow at Souls College, University of Oxford. She is the co-director of the Sustainable Oceans Programme at the Oxford Martin School. Her research interests encompass the fields of public international law, international energy law, and international environmental law. She has co-authored key texts on international environmental law, including "International Law & Environment" and "Lyster’s International Wildlife Law." In the energy law sphere, she has published widely, serving as a co-editor and contributing author for "Energy Law in Europe." Redgwell is also a member of the Academic Advisory Group on Energy and Environment at the International Bar Association. Her teaching focuses on public international law, and she has taught various courses on International Law of the Sea and Comparative Global Environmental Law to BCL and MJur students. Redgwell supervises research students on topics such as international dispute settlement, natural resources law, and the regulation of cyber operations. Before her current role, she held a chair in Public International Law at University College London, and positions at the Universities of Nottingham and Manchester.
