Dr. Cathryn Button

Biography

Dr. Cathryn Button is the chair of the Master of Applied Psychological Science (MAPS) program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her research interests focus on psychological methods, research design, and program evaluation. She is particularly interested in the application of sound research principles in applied research settings to improve program evaluation methods. Recently, her research has investigated the utility of reliability indices for evaluating inter-rater agreement in judgments made within forensic, clinical, medical, and academic settings. This emphasis on empirical methods underpins her commitment to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of psychological evaluation and research. Through her leadership in the MAPS program, she ensures that students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct rigorous research and contribute to advancements in applied psychology, particularly in practical settings such as business, government, and healthcare.
