Cathy G. Johnson is a lecturer in Art and Visual Narrative at Boston University, based in Providence, Rhode Island. She is an accomplished artist and cartoonist, specializing in creating comics, prints, and other visual narratives. Her artistic focus explores the intricate worlds of young individuals, addressing the challenges and joys of adolescence. Johnson’s works have garnered numerous accolades, including notable graphic novels such as 'Jeremiah' (2015), 'Gorgeous' (2016), and 'The Breakaways' (2019). She is recognized for her contributions beyond graphic novels, including chapters in educational literature such as 'Teaching with Comics' (2022). She actively engages in the creative community through her cooperative printmaking studio, Binch Press, which supports queer and trans artists of color. Since beginning her teaching career in 2012, Johnson has aimed to transform art education and provide insights on her website, ComicArtEd.com.
