Biography

Cathy Ye received her BEng in Chemical Engineering from Dalian University of Technology, China, and completed her DPhil in Biochemical Engineering at University College, Oxford in 2005. She has worked as a Post-doctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London and is currently a Professor of Tissue Engineering at the University of Oxford. As the Director of the Oxford Centre for Tissue Engineering and Bioprocessing (OCTEB) and a Fellow of Linacre College, her research primarily focuses on tissue engineering and stem cell technologies. Her specific interests include in vitro cancer models, biomaterials, and the development of smart bioreactors for mammalian cell expansion in cell therapy applications. Cathy has led significant projects including the development of a bone-cartilage interface and three-dimensional tumor models. She teaches courses related to biosystem modeling, biomechanics, and tissue engineering at the University of Oxford. Recent publications highlight her work in various areas within tissue engineering, including the use of fibrin scaffolds and the metabolic modeling of cultured meat production.
