Biography

Catriona MacDonald is a Reader in Late Modern Scottish History at the University of Glasgow, specializing in socio-political cultural history of Scotland since 1832. Her research interests include Scottish Studies, Scottish historiography, and the history of Scottish education, contributing to interdisciplinary studies related to late-modern Scottish society and culture, primarily in literature. MacDonald's current projects examine the evolution of Scottish historiography and studies on the Carnegie Trust for Universities in Scotland from 1901 to 1925. She supervises PhD projects in socio-political history associated with Scottish governance, focusing on specific aspects such as the Scottish islands' politics and the Scottish Co-operative movement post-1945. MacDonald teaches History 1A, covering Scotland’s Millennium, and is involved in MSc courses regarding ideologies of modern Scotland and Scottish Studies MOOC development. She is also a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and serves on various editorial advisory boards.
