Cauê Borlina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences at Purdue University. His research focuses on the use of magnetic fields to understand planetary formation, evolution, and their impact on habitability. At the Purdue Planetary Magnetics Laboratory, his group employs micro-paleomagnetism to study the magnetic records of terrestrial and extraterrestrial rocks, and to model the evolution of planetary magnetic fields. Cauê is particularly interested in multi-disciplinary projects that explore the evolution of protoplanetary disks, the generation of magnetic fields in planets and moons, and the role of magnetic fields in planetary habitability. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and holds a PhD in Planetary Science from MIT. He is set to start at Purdue in Fall 2024 after completing a Blaustein Postdoctoral Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
