Dr. Ce Zhang

Biography

Ce Zhang is an Associate Professor at the University of Chicago specializing in Computer Science and Data Science. With a robust academic background, he previously served as an Associate Professor at ETH Zurich. His research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and artificial intelligence, focusing on the fundamental tensions among data, models, and computational infrastructures. Zhang's current work aims to democratize machine learning through the development of next-generation, data-centric machine learning platforms that prioritize human-centric design and scalable solutions. He completed his PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and held a postdoctoral research position at Stanford University under the mentorship of Christopher Ré. Zhang has been recognized with multiple awards for his contributions to the field, including the SIGMOD Paper Award and the Google Focused Research Award. His research has been highlighted in prominent media outlets such as Science, Nature, and WIRED. Additionally, he serves as a co-Editor-in-Chief for the Data Mining and Learning Review (DMLR) and is a member of the Journal of Machine Learning Research (JMLR) family, focusing on data-centric machine learning research.
